Using RouteWhiz offline means downloading your route and map tiles before you leave your hotel -- once saved, you can view your full itinerary, stop details, and walking directions without any internet connection.

Step 1: Open the Route You Want to Save Offline

Go to My Routes and select the route you plan to use. Make sure all stops are finalized and the route is optimized, since the offline version is a snapshot of the current state.

Step 2: Tap Download for Offline

On the route detail screen, tap the Download icon (the downward arrow). RouteWhiz will save the complete route including the map tiles for the surrounding area, all stop information, walking directions between stops, and any notes you have added. A progress bar shows the download status.

Step 3: Verify the Download

Switch to the Offline Routes tab in your routes list. Your downloaded route should appear with a checkmark. Tap it to open and verify that the map loads correctly and all stop details are visible. Do this while you still have internet so you can re-download if anything is missing.

Step 4: Use the Route Offline

When you are out exploring without internet, open RouteWhiz and go to Offline Routes. Your saved route works just like the online version -- you can view the map, see walking directions, check stop details, and track your progress. The GPS on your phone still works offline, so your position will show on the map.

Pro tip: Download offline routes the night before over Wi-Fi to avoid using your mobile data. If you are visiting multiple cities, download each city's routes separately to manage storage. Delete offline routes after your trip to free up space on your device.

For extra peace of mind, also export your route to Google Maps and download that area's offline map in the Google Maps app. This gives you a backup navigation option.
