How to Export Routes to Google Maps

Exporting a RouteWhiz route to Google Maps takes just a few taps -- finalize your route, hit Export, and you will have turn-by-turn walking directions on your phone in seconds.

Step 1: Finalize Your Route in RouteWhiz

Before exporting, make sure your route is complete. Check that all stops are in the right order, review estimated walking times, and confirm that opening hours align with your schedule. Run the optimizer one final time if you have made recent changes.

Step 2: Tap the Export Button

Open the route you want to export and look for the Export icon in the top-right corner of the screen. This opens the export panel where you can choose your target app and adjust settings like transport mode.

Step 3: Select Google Maps as Your Destination

From the export panel, choose Google Maps. RouteWhiz will generate a URL that encodes all your waypoints, walking mode preference, and stop order. If your route has more than 10 stops, RouteWhiz automatically splits it into multiple Google Maps links, each covering a segment of your journey.

Step 4: Open the Link on Your Phone

Tap the generated link or scan the QR code if you planned on desktop. Google Maps will open with your full route loaded, showing walking directions between each stop. You can start navigation immediately or save the route for later.

Pro tip: Export your route the night before your trip and save the Google Maps link as a bookmark. That way you can access it quickly even if your connection is spotty. For fully offline access, download the area map in Google Maps ahead of time.

If you are sharing the trip with others, you can also send the export link directly via messaging apps so everyone in your group has the same route loaded on their phone.
